Bombardamentele anglo-americane efectuate asupra României în Al Doilea Război Mondial

  • Subiect: The Anglo-American Bombardments over Romania during World War II were meant to destroy the oil area, the means of communication, the harbours and the main industrial plants; on the other hand, the allies wanted to create a hostile spirit against the Germans and to determine Romania to give up fighting next to them. The first American bombing raids over Romania took place in June, 12, 1942 and in August, 1, 1943; then the oil area of Ploieşti was attacked. The American raid performed on the 1st of August, 1943 was a special achievement as far as the distance and the element of surprise are concerned but it turned out to be a great loss for the American Air Force. The Americans understood that Romania had a Fighting Aircraft piloted by skillful professionals ready to sacrifice their lives in order to defend their country.
