Iosif Ivanovici (1844-1902)

  • Subiect: The inheritance of the major Iosif Antonovici, in the light music domain, it is situated in the first rows of the art values from the last century, remaining not only one of the biggest classics of the genius from our country, but also a tap representative of the universal waltz. Known in the entire world through the sounds of the waltzes, polkas, mazurkas, quadrilles, marches, attested in 1889 through the prize of the Universal Exhibition from Paris, Iosif Antonovici remained the most known Romanian name from the XIX century. Through the work The Danube Wales Iosif Antonovici became the creator of the Romanian waltz, and his work imposed him between the world composers. This score disputes its world priority with The Blue Danube of Johann Strauss, which determined the German musical critic J. Schor Zachamy, at the beginning of the XXth century, to name Iosif Ivanovici "the king of the Romanian Waltz".
