Studiu arheozoologic referitor la resturile de faună găsite în aşezarea precucuteniană de la Isaiia - "Balta Popii" (campania 2008)

  • Subiect: We determined 263 zoological remains. They come from five well known domestic species: Bas taurus, Ovis aries, Capra hiscus, Sus scrafa domesticus and Canis familiaris; to these we add the horse (Equus caballus) of which we can tell yet if it was domesticated. We also determined remains from wild mammal species: a small rodent, a little carnivore and other four that are common in Precucuteni- Sus scrofa ferus, Cervus elaphus (that do not exist anymore in the area), Capreolus capreolus, Bas primigenius (an extinct specie). We also discovered cockle shells. We mention that almost half of the remains were from Bas taurus, which is a big size mammal. So we conclude that breeding animals was the main occupation, but we can not ignore the role played by hunting. The wild species show that area was well wooded, unlike today when it is as a steppe.
