Familii boiereşti din oraşul Focşani în epoca modernă. Familia Apostoleanu

  • Subiect: There is little that we usually know about the gentry families that are connected to the historical act of unifying Moldavia and Wallachia. The same thing happens to the Apostoleanu family, one of the oldest families in modern history in Focşani. Gheorghe Apostoleanu is an important figure of that time, he was a professor at The "Academia Mihăileană", and also one of the best jourists in those days. He was also the first professor of Political Economy at the University, president of the CourtRoom în Iaşi and Focşani, member of the Central Committee of the Union in Focşani. He was even a mayor of the town in 1888. Smaranda Apostolenau, his wife, was very much implied in many important activities such as that of President of the Red Cross, president of Vocational School and also president of the Orthodox Society of Romanian Women of the town. The house that was a property of the Apostoleanu Family, built in 1873 is the place where The Annistice from 1917 was signed. Gheorghe Apostoleanu remains an important character in Modem History as the man who contributed to the foundation of the new created state.
