Subiect: Considerations on the activity of the Romanian Orthodox Church in Bukovina at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century
Afier it became an autonomous dukedom, Bukovina began to organize itself politically. Therefore, the cultural societies were the ones that have developed the national movements; also, they have given rise to political parties. After the establishment of the Metropolitan Church of Bukovina and after Eugenie Hacman 's unexpected death, the Metropolitan seat was occupied by Teofil Bendela. As a Metropolitan Bishop, he has represented several times the Religions Fund in the Parliament of Vienna and in the Provincial Chamber of Chernivtsi. The nationalism of the Bukovinian Romanians was starting to come alive. The fight for nationalism and the dissensions within the Greek-Oriental Church and on the political scene were the ones that marked the late l9th century and the early 20th century.
