"Ospiţul" de la Orgoeşti-Căpuşneni

  • Subiect: In 1860, Alexandru Ioan Cuza promulgated the law that dissolved two monasteries and twenty-nine hermitages from Moldavia. In the course of the same month, he promulgated the law that forbade beggary, which also stipulated the establishment of an asylum for male beggars with physical disabilities that made earning a living impossible. The asylum functioned on a special set of regulations in the former hennitage from 1860 until 1871, when its inmates were transferred to the Răchitoasa Monastery, in the Tecuci district.
