Legendă şi adevăr la Bodeştii Vâlcii. Biserica de la Schit

  • Subiect: In the county Vâlcea, there are places of legend, where history is uncertain. Near the village of Bârzeşti, further up the Otăsău valley, close to the mountain Buila Vânturariţa's peak Piatra, beyond the landscape, events happened that are shrouded in mystery. Here, sons of Vrâncioaia founded villages, one of them being Bodeşti, from the name of the founder Bodea. In this village lived free men, among them lived outlaws who fought the Turkish, entering the land of legend. Nicolae Grozea was a native, becoming an icon for his good deeds. In this geographical and historical context, in the XVIIIth century, a hermitage was raised here, having the patron The Holy Trinity. Documents of its date of build and history exist, but they are incomplete, facts being known through oral passing on. The church' architecture suggests that it sended as a tower of defense. It's painting is rustic. Near the church were built a hospital and a school. The hermitage has received a lot of donations throughout the years, has had restorations, but today is deserted. The church of Bodeşti has been taken into the Bodeşti II parish. Stories of the bell that beats since 1732 still circulate, of how it was hidden beneath the bed of the river Otăsău.
