Monedele uzuale emise în timpul domniei Regelui Ferdinand

  • Subiect: The first years that followed World War I, the Romanian economy confronted itself with various problems due to the destruction of industrial enterprises, railways, disorganization of agriculture, and others. The situation was aggravated by the circulation on the territory of The Great Romania of many monetary signs: the emitted leu during the german occupation by The General Bank of Romania, the Kronen of the Austro-Hungarian Bank, the rouble Romanov and the rouble Lwow. These aspects cause the biggest inflation until those times, which means a powerful devalued leu and a growth, on average, of the prices of the consumer goods, between the years 1916-1912, 22 times. Under these circumstances, during the reign of king Ferdinand, (1914-1927), were made only four currency issues: 25 bani 1921, 50 bani 1921, 1 leu 1924 and 2 lei 1924, each coin having 2 variants. Besides these pieces, there were emitted between the years 1928-1929, with the year 1922, golden anniversary models with the nominal value of 20 lei, 25 lei, 50 lei and 100 lei. The anniversary models were emitted to celebrate five years from the coronation of king Ferdinand and queen Maria, an event that took place in Alba Iulia, on 15 October 1922.
