Şcoala primară Nr. 1 băieţi de la înfiinţare şi până la Primul Război Mondial

  • Subiect: The oldest school in the town of Vaslui is the "Primary School for Boys No. 1”. From the existing documents at the Ministry of Public Instruction, it appears that Elena Subin (wife of Colonel Alexe Subin and Ghica’s sister) the owner Vaslui estate, started ever since 1840 the necessary steps for setting up a school. 1841 is supposed to be the beginning of existence of the Primary School in Vaslui. One of the oldest documents still preserved shows the date of January 12, 1842. This act is the address by which the Epitropy of public teaching of the Principality of Moldavia No.5 and date: 1842 Gnenadie 12 discloses to the inspection committee of public school from Vaslui Iordache Galera’s appointment as teacher and head of the school of Vaslui. The school, in its early years of existence, was supported by both the rich people of the city and the teachers who served here. During the reign of Alexandru Ioan Cuza the Public School for Boys is becoming overcrowded. Education gets to know a new development. 1897 and 1901 data are scarce and contradictory, and after the First World War the Primary School for Boys No.1 Vaslui goes through major transformations. In addition to the decreasing number of students and teachers, the school will suffer its transformation into hospital premises.
