Biserica catedrală din oraşul Huşi şi cutremurul din 9/10 noiembrie 1940

  • Subiect: The church „Holy Apostles Peter and Paul”, founded by voivode Stephen the Great (1457-1504) and episcopal residence of 1598 had to endure the hardships of the times, tatar attacks, but especially the devastating effects of earthquakes of 1692, 1802 and 9/10 November 1940. This study, based on original sources, treats the moments restoring the cathedral - tower, painting, altar screen - after the great earthquake of 1940, with negative consequences over the entire diocese. The architectural structure of the cult was affected by restoration of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. By unimaginable efforts, at wartime, Bishop Grigorie Leu using the appreciation of Marshal Ion Antonescu, fails to lead the restoration of the Episcopal Cathedral and to sanctify it on 29 June 1945 during the first bolshevik government established on March 6, under the leadership of dr. Petru Groza.
