Divizia 9 infanterie din Dobrogea în cel de-al doilea război mondial (1944-1945)

  • Subiect: Following the received orders, Rear Admiral Horia Macellariu decided to save Constanţa, which was facing 40 German ships with more than 140 fire holes on board which, through a gesture, could destroy the city of Constanta. Long talks, but effective, with former ally, German Admiral Brinkman led to an incredible solution: although in a tough situation, the Germans left the Constanţa port without firing a single cartridge, a condition imposed by the Romanian Rear Admiral in the agreement document. In Dobrogea, German land resistances were weaker and less organized. Another peculiarity of the area was that Dobrogea had been declared by the Soviets after 23 August 1944, area of operations, then occupation zone. In early September 1944 the Dobrogea Division began its glorious road on the Western Front. Fighting continued in the territories of Hungary and Czechoslovakia.
