George Enescu, o reprezentare sculpturală aparţinând lui Ion Vlad

  • Subiect: The present work refers to the two geniuses of Romanian culture: Ion Vlad (1920–1992) and George Enescu (1881–1955). A wonderful joining between music and sculpture. Two innovative personalities who died in Paris, far away from native places, under the sign of misunderstanding and ignorance from their contemporaries. These two personalities passed away this world, after a hard fight with the preconceptions, meannesses and ignorance of the political people for art. After a short presentation of Ion Vlad’s work, our attention is focused on a sculpture placed in Bârlad (The Public Garden): George Enescu, the greatest Romanian composer. This statue was cast in bronze, in the studios of Fine Art from Bucharest (1958) and has been brought to Bârlad. This statue was inaugurated on 21th of June 1959. It was a great event for Bârlad and for the people from this town. The participation of symphonic orchestra from Iaşi and the recital of Mihai Constantinescu (violinist) and Viorica Cortez (mezzo soprano) rallied an impressive number of people from Bârlad city. As a creative artist, Ion Vlad succeeded to find in Enescu’s sculpture the most expressive conjuring of his personality. An Enescu impressed by harmony and lighting of music, flowing modesty... With the violin to his heart and standing in an endless bow in front of the audience.
