Două tezaure monerare din Muzeul de Istorie şi Artă din Zalău

  • Subiect: Two Coin Hordes from The History and Art Museum of Zalău The paper deals with two coins hoards kept in The History and Art Museum of Zalău. 1.The coin hoard of Câmpeni 17th-18th century. The hoard was discovered ln 1985. It consists of 34 silver coins issued in Transilvania, Niederosterreich, Stiria, Tirol, Boemia, Silezia, in the duchy of Wohlau, in Hungary and Bavaria: two 20 Kreuter coins, four 10 kreuzer coins, a VII kreuzer coin, a VI kreuzer coin and 25 Groschen. The Austrian empire coins were issued in Alba Iulia, Wien, Graz, Hall, Prague, Breslau, Brieg, Oppeln and Kremnka. The coins were hoarded between + 1790-1795 and buried in 1795 or 1796 on account of the social troubles at the end of the 18-th century in Transylvania and especially in the western part of this province. 2. The coin hoard of Fildu, 18th century. The hoard was discovered in 1984. It consisted of several hundred copper coins of XX and X polluters issued by Fr. Rakoczi between 1704-1706. 21 coins were salvaged. The authors make some considerations concerning the XX and X polluters issues, the mints where they were issued, including a mint situated somewhere in Hungary (coins no. 1-19). The hoard of Fildu is the second large hoard of XX and X polluters known up to now (the first one being the hoard of Zalău; see f.n. 13). The hoard was buried in 1707, in the same year as the hoard of Zalău, when the Austrian army under general Rabutin arrived in northern Transylvania, during the war against the „malcontents".
