Descoperiri din aşezarea de tip Sîntana de Mureş-Cerneahov de la Tamciogi-Valea Tişovei (com. Rădeni, r. Străşeni, Republica Moldova)

  • Subiect: The article focuses on the archeological vestiges discovered on a site with several levels of inhabitation from Zamciogi-Valea Tisovei in 2012. Situated at about 3 km south-south west of the village of Zamciogi and at about 2,7 km west of Micăuţi, at the spot called Valea Tisovei, this site was partially destroyed by the construction of a pond in 2011-2012. The most important discoveries belong to the Sântana de Mureş-Černjachov culture dating back to the Late Roman period (4th century AD). A sounding, conducted in 2012, pointed out the existence of a cultural layer rich in archeological items and four holes with different dimensions and destination situated at a big depth, below the phreatic water. The authors of the research have found particularly interesting the hole No 2. It is oval, with oblique walls and straight bottom. At the basis, in has 1,9 m in length and 1,5 m in width. At the lower side of the hole, in the direction indicating the north, a wooden chair was located. The remains of another wooden structure, which had been probably used for the same purpose, were found in the south part of the hole. Yet, they were partly destroyed by the excavation works. Inside the hole, there were found a wooden shovel, a trunk, several roof support pillars, twigs, wheel and hand-made pottery fragments, as well as fragments of Roman amphoras, animal bones and raw stones. The hole No 4, which intersects the complex No 3, is also of great interest. In this hole, in a water environment, two bone-made "skates" were found, as well as several pottery fragments, fauna remains, sticks and twigs. Of the archeological items found on the soil surface, a bronze fibula decorated by incision is worth mentioning. Unique of its kind for the Sântana de Mureş-Černjachov culture, the complex with wooden structures is the first discovery of this kind for the whole South-East-European area outside the borders of the Roman Empire. This very fact highlights the importance and the scientific value of the archeological site from Zamciogi-Valea Tişovei.
