Viaţa cotidiană la curtea principelui Petru Cercel (1583-1585)

  • Subiect: The Everyday Life At The Royal Court Of Petru Cercel (1583-1585) This paper presents various aspects that highlight the grandeur found at the Royal Court during the reign of King Petru Cercel (1583-585). The archaeological investigations and the historical documents reveal the interest and the extensive building pursuits of this Prince: The Royal Church, The Royal Palace, the surrounding walls, The Gate Tower with guard posts, the aqueducts, the esplanade decorated with fountains, the Italian gardens and the Zoo. The Court ceremonies and the trials performed with justice by the Prince himself show his authority as the ruler. Entertainments such as banquets, sportive contests between soldiers and hunting trips were intended to bring color and high spirits to the everyday life at the Royal Court. The luxurious clothing and gold jewelry with precious stones worn by Petru Cercel, the rich ornamented carriages used for short trips, the prince generosity when offering expensive gifts, emphasize the reign of a Renaissance prince who brought to the everyday life at the Royal Court the same glow and luxury that were characteristic to the other European Royal Courts of that time.
