Disputa transilvano-habsburgică pentru nord-vestul Principatului Transilvaniei (1564-1571)

  • Subiect: Dispute on the North-Western part of Transylvania (1564-1571) By the end of the 7th decade of the 16th century, the political, juridical and territorial statute of Transylvania got the international acceptance. Along with the agreement between Transylvania and Austro-Hungary from Satu-Mare (March 13'" 1565), the peace between Austrians and Turks from Adrianople (February I 7'h 1568) and the treaty from Speyer ( 1570), a status-quo will be established, at least for a while, in the relationships between the Ottoman Empire, the Austrian Dynasty and Transylvania, when this got the international acceptance as an European, independent state, with the rank of a participate, in relationships of real dependence on the Ottoman Empire and formal dependence on the Austrian Dynasty, being the heiress of the Hungarian Kingdomîs crown. From the territorial point of view, Transylvania lost important territories from its North-Western part as a result of some unsuccessful military confrontations with the Austrian army and in the context of a change of attitude on the Ottoman Empireîs part towards Austria. The study points out the military actions, the political and diplomatically ones of Transylvania, Ottoman Empire and Austrian Dynasty between 1564-1571, a very important period for Transylvania, but seldom studied by the Romanian history.
