Subiect: The historical museum of Cluj-Napoca bas a rich collection of medieval stove tiles. The oldest samples are from the 14th century, while the largest part of the collection is from 16th and 17th centuries. A number of 495 tiles is included overall, in 265 positions - a number of identical, or slightly different pieces being presented at the same position as variants.
The provenance of the objects was hard to establish - the old museum registers are not containing such information.
This field of research is a rather neglected area of the historical and archaeological studies. Due to this situation, most of the samples are unique for Transylvania so far.
