Mahalaua Scorţarilor din Bucureşti

  • Subiect: The Scorţari Outskirts The author discusses an old Bucharestan toponym, „Scortari'', which gave the name to a banlieu disappeared since the 17th century. The name derives from the occupations of its inhabitants who were collecting tree crusts needed to prepare cattle skins. During the 17th century, the banlieu was named Serban-Voda, name of the prince who built a church there. The author describes the history and geographical settlement of the banlieu.
