Restaurarea icoanei de hram a bisericii Sfânta Treime din satul Mândra, Ţara Făgăraşului, începutul secolului XIX

  • Subiect: The Restoration of the Icon of the Holy Trinity Church in Mândra Village, Ţara Făgăraşului, beginning of the 19th Century In this article, I aim to present certain methodological aspects of the main restoring operations I performed in case of the titular saint icon of the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Mândra Village, Braşov County. This icon, together with almost the entire altarpiece it is part of, dates from year 1810. My restoring approach had as priorities the rebuilding of the adhesion of the paint layer separated from the support, the stopping of the biological attack and the consolidation of the wooden support. Since the icon is a composing part of an ensemble belonging to this church with considerable age value, in the introductory part of my article, I also present other significant data regarding the Holy Trinity Church and its artistic components. Then, in order to integrate the titular saint icon in the ensemble that it is part of, I present a few guiding marks from the iconographic program of the altarpiece, information regarding the composing materials and the artistic technique. The methodological observations regarding the conservation-restoration treatment applied are followed at the end of the article by photographs showing some aspects of this icon’s restoration.
