Stabilizarea structurală şi redarea coeziunii cromatice a unui portret postum al lui Alexandru Ioan Cuza realizat în atelierele Nadar

  • Subiect: The structural stabilization and the recovery of the chromatic cohesion of a posthumous portrait of Alexandru Ioan Cuza made in the Nadar studios The posthumous portrait, due to the aquarellist Emilio Vieusseux (1824-1890), was made in November 1873 in Paris, in the Nadar studios, most likely after a photography of an official portrait of Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza, the coloursbeeing applied according to the original. The analysis of the uniform and of the depicted orders and the comparison with other official portraits of the Ruling Prince shows that as model the aquarellist used a portrait made by Carol Popp de Szathmáry (1812-1887), dating from 1863-1865, now probably lost. The conservation state of the object presented was precarious; the aim of restoration treatments was to ensure the structural stability and chromatic integrity
