1941. The emancipation of Bessarabia, North Bucovina and the offence on the North Pontic shore

  • TITLU în română: 1941. Eliberarea Basarabiei, a nordului Bucovinei şi ofensiva pe ţărmul nord pontic
  • Subiect: Taking advantage of the favourable international context, general Ion Antonescu decided, alone. without consulting with King Mihai I and the representatives of the political parties, the engagement of Romania in the Second World War (on 22 of June 1941, alongside Germany) with the professed goal of emancipating Bessarabia and North Bucovina, both occupied a year before by the Soviet Union, and afterwards the reintegration (in another historical context) of the other Romanian provinces occupied by Hungary and Bulgaria. After reinstating the boarder on the Nistru River (26 of July 1941), Romania continued the war on the territory of the Soviet Union, the Romanian troops operating on the northern shore of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, to the East of Rostov-on-Don.
