Consideraţii privind raporturile dintre comunitatea catolică şi cea ortodoxă din Câmpulung Muscel în secolele XIII-XIV

  • Subiect: Remarks About the Relationship between the Catholic and the Orthodox Communities from Câmpulung Muscel in the 13th and the 14th Centuries Câmpulungul, the oldest settlement from the Wallachia, attested in 1300, initially was a village (the 12th – the 13th centuries), then a fair (the 14th century), and then a town (the 15th – the 16th centuries), as a consequence of various factors: demographic, economic, social, and politic. Firstly, the Catholic Saxons represented a distinctive community from the Romanian Orthodox one, but during the years, up to 1400, the commune economical and social interests led to a single and strong community. They adopted the same form of leadership. Thus the leader of the town was elected alternatively from each community for a period of one year. Many of the lords of Wallachia offered a lot of economical and administrative and juridical privileges along the years to these two communities.
