Restaurarea unui tablou împuşcat: Nicolae Dărăscu – Vedere din Balcic

  • Subiect: Consequent to the events in December 1989, numerous paintings have been deteriorated and restored in time, in the easel painting restoration laboratory of the National Art Museum of Romania. Understanding the magnitude of those events, museums and laboratories from abroad have offered their support in restoring works of art, in their turn, offering study grants and equipment for the remaking of the restoration laboratory – this time located in the Ştirbei wing of the National Art Museum of Romania palace. The previous laboratory itself had burnt, together with 29 paintings which were on the course of being restored at the time. Through the years to come, about 1500 paintings – almost all of those that had been shot – have been restored. Being less affected than the paintings previously restored, having just a singular lack relatively reduced in dimensions, View from Balchik was among the last paintings of this kind to be restored.
