Cântecul lui Mantu - la Glimboca

  • Subiect: Chronologically, outlawry appeared long before the first Ottoman occupation in the Balkans, becoming certitude in the context of social revolts of the 18th and 19th centuries some of its reminiscence lasting until the first decades of the 20th century. As a territory, the Banat has an important place in the history of the outlawry fights which had as a purpose to eradicate the greed of the landlords from the province and to annihilate the Ottoman and Habsburg intentions of occupations. For the 20th century, the Banat kept the name of only one lotru (thief) - Mantu or Pătru Mantu, widely known. He becomes a ballad hero as a result of his actions. Inspired of the actions of Mantu the outlaw, the people has raised a monument of lyrics and melody dedicated to one of its own, but who did not reach the level of heroes such as Iancu Jianu or Pintea the Brave.
