Şinca Veche. Semne şi simboluri

  • Subiect: Şinca Veche. Signs and symbols The Orthodox Christian rupestrial monastic complex from Şinca Veche (Braşov county), dated in the 14th-18th centuries, located in southeastern Transylvania, in the easternpart of Făgăraş Country, has benefited from conservation works that began with archaeological research from year 2005. During the archeological researches, a series of rupestral signs were signaled inside and outside the two churches of the complex, some of these signs being considered acts of desecration. Our research aimed to identify, record and interpret possible hidden signs that may have existed within this cave monastic complex. The purpose of the research was achieved by identifying such signs but also by reinterpreting and demonstrating the Christian character of signs previously presented in the literature as signs of desecration of the Orthodox Christian monastic space from Şinca Veche.
