Semne pe faţadele laterale ale unor altare romane din Oltenia

  • Subiect: Marks on the Lateral Front of Some Roman Altars from Oltenia This article points out the presence of some marks, apart from the inscription for which they were worked out. The altars come from Oltenia. I. Votive altar, dedicated to Mithras, has a mark on a lateral front. It seems to be the upper side of a crux monogrammatica. lt might be clated in the 4th century. 2. Votive altar, dedicated to Iupiter. On the right front of the inscription presents a mark that might have two significations. The first possibility is that it might be a stone mason's mark and the latter- it might be the upper side of a crux monogrammatica. 3. Fragmentary votive altar bas an illegible sign on the front situated at the right of the inscription. It seems to be a stone mason's mark.
