Top-notch schoolmasters- Sabin Evuţianu (1889-1977)

  • Subiect: Top-notch schoolmaster, man of culture, trainer, chief of the teaching in the area of Banat for more than two decades, as well as president of the provincial branch of „The Art of Banat", Sabin Evuţianu played an exceptional part in the school and cultural life of Banat. After he has finished primary school in Pecica (the county of Arad) he attended the secondary school in Brad, he went to high school in Oradea and Braşov and later he attended the university in Budapest. After graduating from university he worked as a teacher in Caransebeş and Arad and on the 1st of May 1923 he moved to Timişoara where he was appointed inspector (1923-1929) and School Inspector General (1929-1946). Being aware of the changes the Great Union brought about, Evuţianu had an important contribution in reorganizing the Romanian teaching as well as in setting the first curricula, made for the Romanian schools in Ardeal and Banat. He also worked as a publisher of the following: „The Romani an from Arad", „The yearbook of the Traian Doda High School in Caransebeş" and the „Torch" gazette in Caransebeş. At the same time he published several teaching works and tens of studies and articles. Being interesed in the unity and prosperity of the Romanians he took a great part in setting up and organizing The Provincial Branch of „The Art of Banat". In September 25th 1977 Sabin Evuţianu died. He was a great schoolmaster, a man of culture, an exceptional character and a good Christian. For many years he was a synodic deputy in Caransebeş and a member in the diocesian congregation in Timişoara.
