Iluministul Simeon Marcovici. Contribuţii documentare privind viaţa şi activitatea sa

  • Subiect: In the opening part of his article the author follows Simeon Marcovici's intellectual growth as one of the first Wallachian scholar who had completed his education in western schools. Afler very serious studies in Pisa and Paris he became a teacher in Bucharest, at the famous „St. Sava " College, being a very active promoter of the Romanian educational modernisation. In the same time he occupied many important positions in the State Administration. His translations from Italian and French litterary works were posthumously appreciated by the great poet Mihai Eminescu. In the final the author gives information on Simeon Marcovici's family, insisling mostly on his son, Alexandru, a well-known doctor and professor.
