Epoca lui Constantin Brâncoveanu: Cuantumul birnicilor şi tendinţele demografice

Subiect: A recently published document was dated 1741-1742, but the information it provides deal with the period in which Constantin Brâncovcanu's financial reform was applied (1701-1708/1710?). The already mentioned document shows that there were 200.000 taxpayers at that time; this is confinned by contemporary and ulterior testimonies. The statistic series prove the same thing, the real taxpaying unities were kept secret; their number greatly increased after 1701, but, after 1710 it gradually decreased. The previous statements-that during Constantin Brâncoveanu's reign an important demographic ,growth occured in Wallachia-are invalidated, by the tendencies in natality, mortality, and external migration, specific for that time.
