Spitalul Militar Piteşti - activitate şi organizare între anii 1926-1938

  • Subiect: Military Hospital Piteşti - activity and organization between 1926 and 1938 Situated on the way that connects Piteşti to Curtea de Argeş, Military Hospital Piteşti had a dramatic activity. As it had been founded as 3rd Division's hospital, it had never had an own headquarters. For that reason, it migrated from one military and civil establishment to other. The provisional situation was caused by the carelessness of the Ministry and of local factors, by the short distance from Craiova and Bucharest (centers that had a tradition in military medicine). The hospital had not been a „high spot" for officers who practiced medicine. The leadership of the hospital was changed very frequent in the period before war occurred. ln 1922, the hospital was abolished. On February 26 1926, by the order of 3rd Divisions, the hospital was reactivated as a hospital for the garrison from Argeş country, Muscel and Găeşti. From the I-st of July 1934 it was founded the surgical service. During the same year, it was organized an infection ward. The hospital had its own chemist's and its own bath for the soldiers in the garrison. The civilians requested the hospital's services, too, and that situation allowed the existence of an auto-finance fund. The sums in that fund were at about 160,000 lei, annually. The hospital acquired a modem radiologica! installation. The reform of the medical system represented an important problem for the hospital's personnel. Due to their professional training and to the support of local civilian and military authorities, the hospital became a strong and respectable institution.
