Succesiuni şi interferenţe de ccivilizaţii în zona districtului Cetăţii de Piatră (Chioar)

  • Subiect: Succession and Interferences of Civilizations in the Area of the Chioar The study is a report on the successions and interferences of civilizations in the northern part of the river Someş where, beginning worth the 13th C„ there developed the District of Chioar Limes (stone fortress); thus, one can draw the conclusion that, as early as the Stone Age, the territory was the dwelling place of an uninterrupted settlement as proven by archeological diggings. Special attention is given to the impact of Latin civilization, then to the Roman limes and the consequences on the process of Romanization of the local population. Archeologic, geographic and strategic evidence show that, for a long time, this part of the country protected by the river Someş and Woody Carpathian Mountains did not encounter the influence of migrating populations allowing thus for the development of a powerful nucleus of Romanity in the valleys and depressions. Thus, the archeological findings on the Latinity of the population and its ties with the Roman world were to be found preceding the arrival of Slavs. The Slavs penetrated from the West, for they were Moravian Slavs who had politically dominated before the conquer of Bodrog Plains and Pannonia by the Magyars when a Roumanian and Slavo-Bulgarian counteraction against the new conquerors was felt. At the beginning of the 10th C. the autochthonous Romany was independent and organized within own political frames both in the eastern parts of the Meseş Mountains and in the northern parts of the river Someş ; the Slavs had since then never been mentioned by either narrative or archeologic sources.
