Restabilirea integrităţii fizice şi artistice a lucrării lui Mihail Dan – Portret de femeie. Proces de etapă

Subiect: The present paper presents the research and restoration of an easel painting – a Portrait of a woman signed by Mihail Dan, from the Elena and Anastase Simu collection belonging to the Art Collections’ Museum subordinated to the National Art Museum of Romania. It is a work which reveals the artistic qualities of a refined painter interested in a variety of textures, but focuses on previous restorations which have produced degradations and considerabile modifications of the parts composing the painting, and of the authenticity of the work itself. The paper concentrated upon the adjustment of treatment methods during the restoration, in order to remake the physical and artistical integrity of Mihail Dan’s Portrait of a Woman.
