Cornel Medrea – Maestru important al sculpturii româneşti – Bătrâni – secvenţe de restaurare

Subiect: The sculptor Cornel Medrea belongs to the modern art school. He donated most of his works to the Cornel Medrea Museum, inaugurated in 1957. After 1990, the building sheltering the museum was returned to its initial owners, the collection being moved for several times, sometimes the works being stored in inadequate conditions – reason for which the sculptures have suffered various deteriorations. Among the works to be restored is the one entitled Old People, which underwent a trough restoration process, from chemical cleansing, to resetting the fragments preserved from a partly broken corner, caulking, volumetrical reconstructions, chromatic integration, varnishing.
