Realităţi medievale româneşti sălăjene din secolele XIII-XVI

  • Subiect: Romanian medieval realities from Sălaj in the 13-16 centuries The author demonstrates that all the 37 Romanian villages mentioned on the Şimleu estate in 1594 had been previously attested. For this he makes use of toponymy and anthroponomy, of direct documentary proofs (villa olachalis, possession olachalis etc.) and of the existence of the voivodes and crainici. 27 of those villages were recorded as Romanian in spite of the fact that their names are translated, changed or distorted by the Latin-Hungarian method of writing. The record was made mainly in documents from 1341 and 1481. When corroborated with other data they testify to the Romanian character of the territory of Sălaj during the Middle Ages.
