„Mareyeuse” Şi „Pécheur” de Émile Louis Picault, în colecţia de sculpturi a Muzeului Municipiului Bucureşti

Subiect: Two statuettes signed by the French sculptor Émile Louis Picault (born in Paris, on August 24th, 1833 – died in Paris, in 1915) owned by the Museum of Bucharest, testify upon the theatrical, idyllic lifestyle in the salons of the Bucharset of yore – a lifestyle very much influenced by European fashion. The presence of these two messengers of the French civilisation in Bucharest suggest a wider conjuncture in the genesis of modern Romania, when a shift of mentalities was happening, from the Orient to the West, accelerating Romania’s European integration.
