Ordine şi medalii. Datarea unor tablouri înfăţişându-l pe Carol I / Orders and medals. Dating some paintings depicting Charles I of Romania

  • Subiect: This article presents the problem of dating of two paintings representing Prince and King Carol I of Romania. Out of the two paintings only one is signed by Carol Popp de Szathmari, but none of them are dated. In identifying the time period in which these paintings were made the representations of the orders which appear on the ruler’s uniforms were used. Also, some medals from the collection of the museum, depicting Alexandru Ioan Cuza and Carol, were used for the identification.
