Reacţia presei româneşti faţă de regimul hitlerist din Germania şi de mişcarea pro-hitleristă din România (1933-1938)

  • Subiect: The press from Sibiu surprised the essential aspects of the internal and external policy of the Third Reich. Generally, it condemned this policy. Also, it rose against the Nazi organizations of the Germans and against their unfavorable influences on the Romanian political life. But starting with 1935, the majority of the press from Sibiu treated the problems through the nationalist prism. It is true that during this period, the nationalist and anticommunist ideas won space everywhere in Europe. In the conception of the press from Sibiu nationalism opposes the communist danger. The press treated the Civil War from Spain from this point of view. Because of this, the legionary movement was regarded pleasantly and certain circles asked for an approach between Romania and Germany and Italy. In the same time, it affirmed the necessity of replacement of Jews and Germans with Romanians in the significant official jobs. Some of these methods had a chauvinist and anti-Semite character, but happily they were not transposed into practice. We believe that the nationalist ideas sustained by some publications from Sibiu penetrated the public opinion. Only like this can be explained the success of the nationalist formations at the elections from 1937 in Sibiu and district of Sibiu.
