Consideraţii asupra unor amprente de frunze descoperite într-o locuinţă neolitică din situl de la Limba-Vărăria

  • Subiect: The present paper deals with the problematic advanced by the discovery of some tree leaves imprints on burnt clay fragments, belonging to a surface house from the Neolithic site (Vinca culture) of Limba-Vărăria (Alba county, Ciugud village). After the presentation of some theoretical aspects about the methodology of paleobotanics, the authors describe the context of discovery (LI/1998 from SXII/1998) and the found pieces (burnt clay fragments with plant imprints). Based on the morphological comparison, the imprints are identified as belonging to the following tree species: plane-tree or maple (Acer platanoides, fam. Aceraceae; fig. 3 a-b) and elm (Ulmus minor, fam. Ulmaceae; fig. 5 a-b), thus confirming their affiliation to the weak essence, typical for the Mureş river meadows and characteristic for wet and warm climate, rich in precipitations, supposed for middle Neolithic times. The paleobotanic analysis in the Neolithic sites from the Mureş valley can be important contributions to the reconstruction of the environment, daily life, economic strategy and main occupations of Neolithic peoples.
