  • Subiect: The case made by the study presents some aspects from the beginning ways of the firemen to organise, institution being elementary to any community. The damages done by fires determined the administrative authorities to take a series of measures to prevent and extinguish conflagrations and also limit disasters provoked by the latter. The rules of firemen function of 1869 foresaw the obligativity of towns to establish fire services and the obligation of each household to possess their own means of extinguishing. The firemen organisation worked under different forms: associating citizens and mutual aid in the event of a fire, the volunteering firemen, the mandatory firemen, the paid firemen and the military firemen. No matter their name, the main objective was the same: fighting arson and saving people’s goods.
