The Population of Satu Mare County according to the Josephine Census (II)

  • Subiect: In 1874 the system of conducting the population census changed completely. The modifications were made in accordance with the reforms introduced by Joseph II. For the first time in the history of Hungary, the noble population was also included in the census. Thus, the census of 1784- 1787 became the first “modern” census of the population. Not only the social categories that were surveyed changed, but the implementation method was entirely altered.
