Contribuţia preoţilor la dezvoltarea învăţămâtului primar românesc în epoca modernă

  • Subiect: Summary: In this article the author shows that the priests were the only teachers in the rural world, because there were no teachers in the Romanian Countries qualified to train children in villages in the early modem era. Either on its own initiative or ordained by the authorities, they had a big role in the development of primary education. Moreover, the first village schools were established near churches and monasteries. Even after the establishment of normal schools and nationalization of primary school, priests often have substituted the teachers. They occupied vacancies continuing the educational process in Romanian villages.
