  • Subiect: PFEDERMARKT or the HORSE FAIR is an event taking place every year in February, in Leonberg, a town located I 6 km west from Stuttgart. This town is known for the locals' occupations as renowned horse breeders andfarmers. Today only a small part of the locals stil/ practice them. Mast of the people are employed in the industry, notably automotive, but nat only. However,for over a century, in Leonberg has been taking place a celebration dedicated to one of the mast beloved animals: the HORSE. PFEDERMARKT, The Horse Fair or Horses Celebration gathers at the end of winter numerous horse breedersfrom all around the land ofBaden Wurtenberg. They come with harnessing and horses to participate in order to display horses' qualities, take the opportunity to meet other animal breeders, expose one's trophies, and, last but nat least, to take part in an event that has been perpetuated year after year,for everyone: competitors, public, and hosts. The lengthy experience in organizing the event has made it last for so many years. Volunteers are the ones participating directly in raising all the extra fundingfor making badges, small flags, posters, chocolate co ins, etc. The Town Hali ensures the participants with camping spots near the motorway. They provide a performance organized following some strict regulations, in a well kept horse riding school, with a good observation ofthe established schedule. After the awarding ofthose who stood aut, thefestivity moves to the Town Hali Square, wherefor faur hours the parade ofthe corporations' allegorical chars takes place. The care for the horses can be seen everywhere: wood fencing is built up here in the square, where animals are exhibited and where they are fed with feed and water. Everybody, adults but especially children, stop to admire and caress the gentle animals. At the end ofthefestivity, during the night, the sanitation workers clean aut the surfaces so well, that the next morning everything is perfectly clean again. The audience is invited to participate in the Local Crafts and Producers' Fair, enticed by the smell of sausage and mulled wine. Kids are welcome, tao,- they receive gingerbread and al! sorts of "comedies ". The evening ends with the balls organized in the premises rented long before the event. Those present during the day, participants or part of the audience, leave with unforgettable memories and with the wish of returning again the following year for the horses celebration at PFEDERMARKT
