  • Subiect: 110 years since the peasants' uprising of 1907 The study is an analysis of the events that preceded and led to the 1907 peasant uprising. In the spring of 1907, discontent burst out and led to the uprising of peasants against landowners and tenant farmers. Mention is made of places in the counties of Buzău and Râmnicu Sărat where the uprising took place, the authorities sending the army, with the outcome of a high death and casualty toll on the peasants' side and the echoes of the events in the press of the day. On the occasion of the 50-year celebration, in March 1957, a commemoration plate was unveiled at the „gates" of the county. In memory of the people killed, a group of statues was erected in 1961, called 1907, the work of sculptor Corneliu Medrea, located in front of the Communal Palace in Buzău.
