  • Subiect: The first information about America date from the XVI-XVllth centuries and they began to multiply in the XVIIIth century and the first half of the XIXth century, bringing new perspectives in geography, politics and culture. After the revolutions of 1848, the interest of the United States for this area grew. On the 30th of March 1858, the first American Consulate was established at Galaţi, the consul being Henry T. Romertze. Prince Al. I. Cuza expressed the wish to enter to close a friendship, commercial and navigation treaty with the United States, based on the most-favored-nation clause.
