Artileria uşoară de însoţire a infanteriei române în primul şi cel de-al doilea război mondial

  • Subiect: The struggle of small sized infantry units (company, battalion) always requested direct fire support both in the offensive and defensive stage as well. Regularly, the battalion disposes of the machine guns and mortars, which in some situations does not assure the fire efficacy or precision. In maneuvering war especially, the presence in units organic of a certain number of light artillery pieces was proved to be a necessity, assuring manual movement on the battlefield. This kind of support did not depend on intermediary connections like observers, signal devices and external limitations like an imposed ammunition allowance or lack of tractors. The work-paper proposes to look for the start of this weapon category in the Romanian Army as its evolution too in the WW1 and WW2 period of the 20th century, and to present the main equipment used in this role. Some conclusions can serve to establish a multifunction spectrum for using the armament of the contemporary corresponding structures.
