  • Subiect: The Sheepfold - The Monograph of a journal. Between the two world wars, the shepherds' situation was difficult in Romania, due to the lack of a protective legislation. That 's why, in Poiana Sibiului, a strong traditional pastoral centre, a group of brave people founded "The Shepherds' Reunion ", a professional organization, which was meant to fight for the shepherds' rights. The leader was the teacher Nicolae Muntean. He alsa founded the journal "Stâna" ("The Sheepfold''). For about five years, this journal was the tribune for the shepherds' rights, a place where shepherds could exchange ideas, a promoter of new pastoral technology - a mirror of Romania 's pastoral economy and life.
