Ţările Române şi influenţa războiului ruso-austro-turc din anii 1735-1739

  • Subiect: In their political evolution, the Romanian Countries were influenced by the development and consequences of the Russo-Austro-Turkish war from 1735- 1739, due to the various interests of the combatants over the Romanian area. Thus, an area of tension between the Russians and the Ottomans was the northern Black Sea region, where the Turks sought to maintain dominance over Moldavia and Wallachia, while Russia wanted to expand its southern borders for wider access to the Danube and the Black Sea, which were also to be a way of pan- Slavic and Orthodox influence on the Balkans, including on the Romanian area. Instead, Austria wanted to maintain its influence in Transylvania, Banat, Bukovina, and Oltenia, and the Turks to cede Wallachia to them.
