Viaţa spirituală în mediul rural din Dacia Superioară (II)

  • Subiect: The research takes into consideration the results of archaeological excavations and other fortuitous discoveries from 185 modern localities in Dacia Superior, with 23 villae rusticae and 2 great pottery workshops, 8 presumptive places of cult, the epigraphic testimonies (names of 3 lapidi; an oculist's name, and other names belonging to an owner of one of the pottery workshops), funeral inscriptions (59 pieces initially and 135 votive ones), sculptural vestiges (127 stone-monuments initially, 47 representations made of metal, 37 of terracotta, and one made of bone), writing remains on different objects (28 examples), and writing tools (17 styli). All those remains may be studied in the annexed repertory (till 1994, as the investigation stopped then). Certainly later researches may increase the number of the monuments. These facts allowed the author to maintain that the penetrating process through which that province became a "Romanized" one is also well reflected by the rural life, as the intense spiritual life there was similar to that one in the urban Roman centres, with large positive valences.
