North-East Banat and the Great Union

  • TITLU în română: Banatul de Nord-Est şi Marea Unire
  • Subiect: After the end of the First World War, similar to Banat and Transylvania, the Northeast Banat went through a period of unrest, with massive popular actions. The soldiers who returned from the war, with a deep sense of rebellion, have become the leaders of the people from their native places. The local economy was controlled by representatives of the Austro-Hungarian authorities and so their enemies were the notaries, country chiefs, mayors and gendarmes, who acted ultra vires during the acquisitions. and humiliated the families of the young men who were in the army. In order to maintain order peace and stop the wrongdoings committed by the gendarmes and members of the Hungarian guards, after these events, Romanian National Guards and Natinal Councils were set up as revolutionary bodies. This ensured the peace and order that was necessary for the election of the delegates sent to the National Assembly of Alba Iulia. But the union with Romania was not a gift for the Northeast Banat. It was merely a natural and deserved ourcome for the endless fight and suffering. By shedding their blood fighting, the people living in this area paid their tribute for the so desired UNION.
