Mormântul eroului necunoscut

  • Subiect: After the World War I, Romania was among the first states which decided - following the French example - the raising of a monument dedicated to the ones who made their supreme sacrifice on the battlefield. On the Ascension Day - the 17-th of May 1923 - at five years after the Great Union of all Romanians in a single national state, the Monument of the Unknown Hero was inaugurated in King Charles' Park. Through the ages, the monument has become a true pilgrimage place for the ones paying homage to those who shed their blood for the country. By a brutal decision, the tomb was moved, in 1958, at the Mărăşeşti Mausoleum. It was returned in King Charles' Park by an act of justice, on October 26, 1991.
